PERSONAL VS. ONLINE ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORD

For the past few days I have been pondering which would I prefer in this upcoming age of electronic medical records, personal health record (PHR) or online health record? When considering a system that could communicate from one health care system to another I believe a closed online system makes great strides in improving the care of the patients it serves. For the storage of my own personal health information to an online program, I have strong reservations. Personal is personal and there are just so many people that I would want to have access to some of the sensitive information that is contained in a medical history (such as the answers to such questions have you ever been treated for a sexually transmitted disease, have you ever used any illegal/street drugs, have you been treated for any psychiatric problem, etc). The answers to those sort of questions in the wrong hands could haunt you for the rest of your life. Although I am sure the best technology has gone into protecting the online electronic medical record programs but on the other hand I know that some top governmental agencies have had their systems hacked into.
Keep your personal medical record personal by having your own electronic personal health record device. This allows you to have control...you input the information...you password protect the information and you share the information with only those who have the need to know.
Me risk having my information fall into the hands of someone out to see what next system they can infiltrate...I don't think so...my personal choice is just that my electronic personal health record (PHR) device.
Currently available as a necklace, bracelet or key chain. Pre-order yours today, be sure to indicate which you prefer.
